LUSHcellos

                                                                                                   WENDY SOLOMON                                

is a featured recitalist in North America and Europe. She won 1990 Atlanta Young Artist Competition and 1992 Toronto Heliconian Young Artist of the Year, and has also been the recipient of Canada Council Grants. Wendy received her Master’s Degree in Performance at Rutgers University, studying with Bernard Greenhouse and then went to England to study with William Pleeth. She plays in many genres--from Baroque to Broadway to Rock ‘n Roll and enjoys the variety immensely. She has recorded for film and television and for solo artists of varying styles, including being a featured soloist on Natalie McMaster's 'Live in Cape Breton' DVD. She is proud to be the cellist of BOWFIRE and also one of it’s arranger/orchestrators. Wendy has also acted as co-producer on several recordings. She is a founding member and composer/arranger for LUSHcellos.

 

                                           ORLY BITOV           

has performed extensively with both orchestras and chamber ensembles all over Europe and Canada.  Born in Israel, she studied cello with Zvi Harel at the Rubin Academy of Music, and chamber music at the Mishkenot Sha'ananim Music Centre with Isaac Stern, Aldo Parisot and Yehudi Menuhin. Orly completed her Artist's Diploma at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. Through her varied career, Orly has played with the Rishon le Zion Symphony Orchestra in Israel, Spain's Orquesta Sinfonica de Castilla y Leon, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the BBC Symphony and the Scottish Opera.  In her diverse freelancing career she has toured France, Germany, Japan and Canada with several chamber groups.  Orly plays with a number of orchestras, including the National Ballet and Esprit Orchestras.  She has recorded for several television and film productions and played in many musicals in Toronto and at The Shaw Festival. She is proud to be a founding member of LUSHcellos

 

  MARY-KATHERINE FINCH                 

is a versatile musician, at home with repertoire spanning the baroque to the contemporary. Performances have taken her to China, Japan, New Zealand, England, California, New York, and throughout Canada. In addition to being a member of LUSHcellos, Mary-Katherine frequently collaborates in recital with pianist Ronald Greidanus, and is a member of Contact Contemporary Ensemble.  She has played with the Stratford Festival, New Music Concerts, Esprit Orchestra, the Canadian Opera Company orchestra, Toronto Philharmonia, the Ottawa Chamber Music Festival, Festival of the Sound, Elora Festival, Classical Music Consort, Aradia, Baroque Music Beside the Grange, Grand River Baroque Festival and Toronto Masque Theatre. Mary-Katherine is looking forward to an upcoming tour with Broadway legend, Colm Wilkinson.


                      RACHEL POMEDLI          

was born and raised in Saskatoon, Canada, and joined LUSHcellos in 2009 for its China tour. She obtained her B. Mus. from the University of Toronto, where she was a student of Shauna Rolston, and her M.Mus from Yale University, where she studied with Aldo Parisot and the Tokyo String Quartet. Rachel then spent a year as part of the Graduate String Quartet in Residence at the University of Colorado at Boulder, studying intensively with the Takács Quartet, and a further year performing with the Hyogo Performing Arts Center Orchestra in Japan.  Rachel has performed at numerous festivals, including Verbier (Switzerland), Spoleto, South Carolina, Norfolk Chamber Music Festival (Connecticut), Juilliard String Quartet Seminar (New York City), six summers at the Banff Centre for the Arts, and has performed at Carnegie Hall with the Yale Cellos. She has recorded for CBC Radio and enjoys performing diverse genres of music.
